Chile generally requires initial temporary-residence applications to be submitted from outside the country. The procedure may be online, but that does not mean you can apply from any location. Check the rule for your precise route before booking a move.
Exceptions depend on your circumstances
Some qualifying family, humanitarian, and other cases have procedures available inside Chile. An exception is not a general right for all visitors to change status. The official route page should identify the application location and evidence for your situation.
A visitor entry is a different permission
Transitory stay is designed for a short visit without establishing residence. The period granted at entry, any work authorization, and the ability to make a later application are distinct issues. An extension of your visit does not itself create residence rights.

- Review the required documents and how long obtaining them may take.
- Check what an application receipt or approval actually authorizes.
- Avoid treating a pending application as a promise of permission to work or remain.
