As checked on September 29, 2026, SERMIG’s published temporary-residence categories do not include a standalone “digital nomad visa.” That popular search label should not be mistaken for an available Chilean permit.
Describe the activity, not just the lifestyle
The relevant questions include where you are located, who you work for, what services you perform, and what evidence you have. A foreign client or foreign bank account does not by itself establish immigration permission for the activity.
Compare the real routes
Depending on the facts, an applicant may need to examine residence for remunerated activities or a different category for which they independently qualify. Retirement and rentista categories require the relevant financial evidence; they are not automatic substitutes for remote work.
Keep immigration and tax questions separate
A permit does not settle every question about taxes, employment, or business obligations. Seek qualified advice for those issues when planning ongoing work from Chile.
